Just a short comment about grading. We grade as correctly as possible. These notes were printed with "War Type Paper" more than 80 years ago. The paper is often thin and brittle, it has survided adverse storage conditions and a major war. It is surprising that the material is available from time to time - mostly from old dealer stocks. These stocks were of course not housed as carefully as a collector may have stored his notes. Present day archival storage systems were not available at the time. Many collectors came from the field of Stamp Collecting. They hinged and mounted their notes. All these methods are not acceptable nowadays, but it does not change the fact, that the material available may show traces of the earlier collecting methods.

Notes may have minor age spots which will not be mentioned each time. Major spot discolorations are excluded from our AU/Unc. sets. Collectors please be advised that these old notes are not always as fresh as just off the press. Our offers are far better then this explanation may imply, but there may be minor defects which we do not notice.

If the above conditions are not acceptable to you, then we may not be the party to supply the notes. We want you to understand this before you place orders. You may rest assured, that we attempt to please you. We grade to the best of our ability but this may not always be 100 %. Flaws are described whenever possible, therefore, we seldom have problems with the true Notgeld Collector. We can imagine that this may or may not be a good field to get into for the person, who insists on strictly uncirculated notes.

We do the best we can, and we in turn ask that you determine, if this is good enough for you and your collection.

Most notes are identified by the numbers of the Anton Geiger catalog "Deutsches Notgeld" Band 3:

Das deutsche Grossnotgeld 1918-1921

Katalog aller Notgeldscheine im Nennwert von 1 bis 100 Mark

Illustrated Notes appear in blue and are underlined. They are type notes and not necessarily the note offered for sale.
